I am so sorry you experienced all that. Thats one of the reasons why I decided to not use my degree after graduated from pharmacy school. Most new grad are forced to become floaters and as a floater pharmacist it is hard to get into the work flow of different stores every week and learn everyone’s work flows if that makes sense. But the system is just horrible for both tech and pharmacist 🥺 i hope you find a better company to work for that actually value their employees 💖

@NagappanaUsopp i totally understand. Make sure you communicate your needs and give them the solutions such as scheduling newbies with trained tech to balance out the workflow and dont be afraid to let the lead tech know to request for more people

It’s definitely the system, youre not crazy at all! Make sure to take time off for yourself and also stand on business when it comes to your PTO. Not trying to scare yall but when I was still working in healthcare, 6 months before I completely quit… one of my dearestttttttt coworker passed away due to a stroke AT WORK and he never got approved for PTO in the last 2 years. I’ll make a video about the work life balance for pharmacy folks soon! So make sure you have a work life balance and even during work, do your best but at the same time go at your own pace and never afraid to ask for an extra break ! Wish you the best💖💖

Thats a good questions :) its varied, based on experience, companies and role as a tech. Regular tech role can start at $15 and go up to above $40 as informatics tech

Im glad you find it helpful. I got my IV certificate thru a separate program that accredited by NABP. Im sure they have different programs. Make sure to background check them and be aware of scammers.

Aw im Sorry to hear that. You can always try to apply to hospital if customers are the issue with the job. I would try smaller hospitals for a higher chance to get hire without experience then you can move to bigger hospitals in your city to get pay more.

Yes. They gave me 40hours of training and 90 days probation period. Those 40 hours I actually have a trainer with me my entire shift. Then they do evaluations after the 90 days. I know some places are nice enough to offer a “retrain” if ppl lack in certain area like in the IV room.

So 40 hours. Was it like 2 hours per day. What were u doing for thr whole day ? Did they assign other tasks to do beside IV?

40 hours is the total of whatever days you are schedule to. I worked only on the weekend at that time so 8hours a day and 2 days per week. They assigned me with different technicians through out the whole training period so everyday is different and you’ll have to learn everything by the end of your training period

It was pretty quick and easy for me. They asked me basic questions like why do you want to work for walmart? My experience? What are my short terms/long term goals. Before every job interview I always google “pharmacy technician interview questions” and kind of answer the questions in my head to make sure everything sounds good.

It was about 3 weeks but I always waited for about 2 weeks if i dont hear anything back I would try to reach out

For sure, retails can be manageable with the help of other coworkers. I believe as long as you have a good team, the job is pretty easy.

The assessment can be after the applications (before interview) to see if you have some experience/adaptable in the pharmacy environment. Just answer them as how you see it fit. Tbh i look at them as like an exam to test your judgment and ethicality.

CVS and walgreens or even walmart willing to hire with no experience. I advise to keep trying because they have hiring seasons :)

You sound stupid thats not what shes saying you right its not alot a steps to bring up a customer but if you cant find that person in the computer than sometimes u have to do more than whats expected of you nobody asking for people to hold hands on the job but any time you do anything in the medical feild its takes alot just more than one day of training stop acting like u never need help everybody needs help at some point time including you. And she never said anything about it being a game everybodies different and they learn different your comment was unesscesary all you had to say was you didnt have that experience dont come for her you sound like they either made you learn the hard way worse than her thats why you made that comment

@@blujaygirl85 i just know my job like i said retail pharmacy isn’t for everyone and you get thrown to the wolves a lot of times . understaffed and overworked so alot of times you have to take it upon yourself to train yourself . they have a whole manual and how to book on the wire. if people would just use it things wouldn’t be so difficult for them . i’m at a store who feels almost 3000 scripts a week since i started there ten years ago and i basically trained myself. so yea i didn’t ask for alot of help.

I understand your work ethic but the retail pharmacy is so understaffed and overworked right now, a part of it is because people is okay with them treating their workers like that. It gets some bad then people decide to stop putting up with then stop showing up. I get it youre been there for 10 years you already used to everything so if a new problem comes you’ll know your way around to find an answer. But new hires should still allow to be train with x amount of hours like hospital allow 40 hours of training. Nobody ever get thrown out on their first day of training to just figure it out on their own in a hospital pharmacy. If you get thrown out on your first day in an IV room you would violate so many sterile rules and could kill a patient with a small little iv bag. Retail pharmacy lack of training leading ppl to make some mistakes because they were never trained properly. Something common for you is not that common for others and vice versa. All im saying is just because you could dont mean you have to.

@@Msjulie.t i also don’t mind helping new hires . i always make sure to tell them to always ask me questions. no question is a stupid question. sorry if i came off too tough i guess i’m just blessed that i have been with good pharmacist who actually make sure we are ok .

For APPE, they gave us options to pick about 10-15 where we want to go but then they run it like a lotto machine, which ever you land on within those 10-15 than thats where you go. they are all subject to change as well due to cancellation because of the preceptors. My school was strict so after they assigned our rotations we can only request to change 1 rotation. but I know other schools allow them to change through out the year. For IPPE they assigned us to 1 rotation for each semester and as far as I know, we do not get to request a change for IPPE at my school.

Hey I know this comment is really late but what are the steps you took to do this? I’m currently trying to do the same thing through Walmart and become a Pharmacy Tech.

CVS and walmart hires trainees so you can try it out for 2 years if you think it is for you then you can study for your exam and become certified.

@@Msjulie.t thank you. Just researching about which pharmacy I can learn better. If only work 6 Or less hour they hire or you have to be full time. Or it’s depends on pharmacy. I got kids need to pick from school. That’s why I am confused.

it depends on the manager tbh. you can always work it out with them but i would say walmart or maybe neighborhood walmart where it’s a little slower than CVS. other than that Im not sure where else hire trainees. or if you’re interesting you can try out independent pharmacies theyre super slow.

congratulations! after you done w the computer training (which only took me 8hrs) then you can start on site. they supposed to pair you up w a technician to train you for different station. sometime they left you alone to figure out on your own (which was my case) but make sure to ask questions when you not sure. dont be scare like i was tho. i would bring a notepad to get the steps down for each station.

look up sterile certification in your area. make sure theyre accredited.

walmart definitely offer rotations. and I honestly think walmart def better than cvs and walgreens. you might get lucky and be at the walmart without drive thru :)

But you're right so many damn steps to just ring up there prescription bruh I hate it and I like it some pharmacy techs are ok other times they laugh at me like yes bitch idk what I'm doing🤦‍♀️

it’s okay. you’ll get use to it and it pretty repetitive. so if you wanna keep the job make sure to write steps down and just repeat til you dont have to look at your notes anymore :)
